The image challenged the notion of &amp;ldquo;superior&amp;rdquo; white civilization, as imperialists, explorers, and slave-traders of various nationalities scale the helpless figure, who represents Africa, or possibly the African American man. &amp;ldquo;Still Asleep,&amp;rdquo; says the caption: &amp;ldquo;Can Nothing Rouse Him?&amp;rdquo;</text>
